Moving from deputy to PM — what genuinely surprised you in year one?

I made the transition 18 months ago. What surprised me most: how political the partner dynamics are, how different my relationship with the wider team became overnight, and how much of the job is managing up (the partners) rather than down (the team). Also — QOF is genuinely stressful in a way I didn't appreciate from the outside. What did others find hardest in the first year?
