## NHS Mail Setup Guide
### New Account Request
1. Line manager submits request via your ICB/local NHS Mail admin
2. Allow 3–5 working days for account creation
3. User receives activation email to personal email address
### First Login
1. Visit mail.nhs.net
2. Enter NHS.net email address
3. Set strong password (min 12 chars, mix of letters/numbers/symbols)
4. Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) — mandatory
5. Configure mobile app (Microsoft Outlook or NHS Mail app)
### Shared Mailboxes
- Request shared mailbox via ICB admin
- Useful for: prescriptions@, admin@, referrals@
- All access is logged for audit purposes
### Security Requirements
- MFA must be enabled
- Patient identifiable information (PID) should ONLY be sent to NHS.net addresses
- Never forward NHS Mail to personal/non-NHS accounts
- Report suspected compromises immediately to DSPT lead
