## New Practice Manager Induction Guide
### Your First 30 Days: Listen and Learn
**Week 1 — Foundation**
- Meet every member of staff individually (15-minute informal conversations)
- Shadow reception, admin, and clinical support workflows
- Review the last CQC inspection report
- Read your NHS contract (GMS/PMS/APMS)
- Understand the payroll and HR cycle
**Week 2–3 — Systems and Finance**
- Review last 12 months' management accounts
- Understand QOF status and trajectory
- Audit HR files: DBS checks, appraisal dates, mandatory training compliance
- Review complaints log and SEA register
**Week 4 — Stakeholders**
- Attend your first Partners meeting — observe, don't lead yet
- Contact your ICB Primary Care Manager to introduce yourself
- Identify your PCN Clinical Director and PCN Manager
### Days 31–60: Prioritise and Plan
- Identify the top 3 operational risks
- Agree priorities with Partners in writing
- Review any upcoming CQC action plans or contract milestones
### Days 61–90: Lead and Deliver
- Present your 90-day findings and proposed action plan to Partners
- Begin addressing your top-priority areas
- Set a regular 1:1 schedule with each GP Partner
