**Job title:** Practice Manager
**Accountable to:** GP Partners/Principals
**Salary band:** Typically £38,000 – £58,000 depending on practice size and region
### Purpose of the Role
To manage all non-clinical aspects of the GP practice, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality primary care services, a well-motivated workforce, financial sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
### Key Responsibilities
**Strategic Leadership**
- Develop and implement the practice business plan in partnership with the GP Partners
- Represent the practice at PCN, ICB, and external stakeholder meetings
- Lead change management projects and service improvement initiatives
**Human Resources**
- Recruit, induct, appraise, and manage all non-clinical staff
- Ensure compliance with employment law and NHS Terms and Conditions
- Manage sickness absence, disciplinary, and grievance procedures
**Finance**
- Manage the practice budget and financial reporting
- Oversee QOF, Enhanced Services, and contract income
- Liaise with accountants and manage payroll processes
**CQC and Compliance**
- Maintain CQC registration and ensure ongoing compliance
- Lead on health & safety, infection prevention, and risk management
**IT and Digital**
- Oversee clinical and administrative IT systems
- Lead on digital transformation projects
### Person Specification
- Proven management experience (GP practice or comparable healthcare setting preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of NHS primary care funding and contracts
- Experience of HR management including disciplinary processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- MIGPM, AMSPAR or healthcare management qualification (desirable)
